Embry-Riddle Releases Covid-19 Test Results, Urges Everyone to Double Down on Safety
To all new and returning Eagles – welcome to the spring 2021 semester. As promised in our sendoff message prior to winter break, Embry-Riddle is today resuming weekly reporting of Covid-19 test results.
Levels of Covid-19 remain high across the country, following increased travel and social gatherings over the holidays. Over the past week, Jan. 13-20, an average of 193,984 new cases of Covid-19 were reported nationwide each day, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).
Embry-Riddle has also seen an increase in cases as everyone returns to campus (see below). We urge everyone to please redouble preventive measures. Avoid parties and clubs. Wear your mask, both on and off campus. Stay six feet apart.
During the fall 2020 semester, as reported in President Butler’s newly updated Path Forward plan, our stringent safety protocols helped us minimize the spread of illness. Between June 22 and Dec. 31, Embry-Riddle conducted 9,458 tests and identified 333 cases, but only nine were still under isolation by the end of 2020. We saw no evidence of any Covid-19 transmission in our classrooms.
With your help, we hope to see lower Covid-19 levels on our residential campuses over the next couple of weeks. Thank you to all who are helping.
