Global Security & Intelligence Professor’s Book Named ‘Outstanding Academic Title’

Associate Professor of Global Security & Intelligence Dr. Thomas Field’s book, “From Development to Dictatorship,” has been named a 2015 Outstanding Academic Title by Choice magazine, a publication by the Association of College and Research Libraries, which is a division of the American Library Association.

According to Choice, this publication reflects one of the best scholarly titles and has attracted extraordinary attention from the academic library community.

In order to be awarded this distinction, a title must meet a list of criteria, which are listed as follows:

  • Overall excellence in presentation and scholarship
  • Importance relative to other literature in the field
  • Distinction as a first treatment of a given subject in a book or electronic form
  • Origninality or uniqueness of treatment
  • Value to undergraduate students
  • Importance in building undergraduate library collections

The book was one of 16 international-relations titles to receive the designation for 2015.
