SkyWest Airlines CEO to Speak at Embry-Riddle Prescott Fall Commencement Ceremony Dec. 15
PRESCOTT, Ariz. – A total of 249 students representing Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott and Worldwide Campuses will graduate at the University’s Fall 2018 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Prescott Valley Event Center.
Featuring 153 students from the Prescott Campus and 95 from the Worldwide Campus, the graduating class includes eight Prescott students receiving military commissions: Six from Army ROTC and two from Air Force ROTC. The class also includes a Ph.D. candidate from Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus.
Keynote speaker will be Russell “Chip” Childs, Chief Executive Officer and President of SkyWest, Inc., the holding company for SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines. SkyWest, flying under the United Express banner, commenced air service from Prescott to Los Angeles and Denver in August 2018. The service has been very well received by the community, with load factors approaching 80% and more than 8,000 passengers transported in only four months. Embry-Riddle business students played a pivotal role in facilitating airline service to the Prescott community (see: https://news.erau.edu/headlines/embry-riddle-business-students-play-pivotal-role-in-facilitating-new-prescott-airline-service/).
“We are so pleased that the CEO of SkyWest will be addressing our students as we celebrate the opening of modern commercial air service to Prescott as well as the 40th Anniversary of the founding of our campus in 1978,” said Chancellor Dr. Frank Ayers. “We look forward to adding the names of these fall graduates, who hail from the Prescott, Worldwide, and Daytona Campuses, to the many distinguished alumni who have earned their hard-won diploma over the years.”
