Every Spring, the U.S. Air Force selects qualified cadets for the positions of Pilot, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Controller, Combat Systems Officer and Air Battle Manager. While the national average selection rate is roughly 70%, 18 of 19 Embry-Riddle Prescott cadets were selected, boasting a 94% selection rate. Of those cadets, 17 received their top position choice, and one received their second choice.

Cadets are selected based on GPA, Field Training performance, Physical Fitness Scores, Air Force Officer Qualifying Test results and Commanders Rankings.

“This is a phenomenal achievement by our cadets and highlights the outstanding academic reputation ERAU is known for,” said Col. Randy Kaufman, Commander, AFROTC Det 028. “I am incredibly proud of our cadets and cadre here at Detachment 028 and appreciate the cooperation and support we get from the university for our program.”

In addition to the release of the rated board results, Col. Kaufman awarded 16 freshman cadets Air Force scholarships worth $18,000 per year for 3.5 years, amounting to $1,008,000 in total scholarships. Embry-Riddle Prescott had 16 of 26 (61.5%) qualified cadets receive scholarships this year, compared to the national average of 60%.
