Prescott AFROTC student Serafino Bohrer-Padavos has received the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Award for the Southwest region. The SAME ROTC Award of Merit is a bronze medal with bronze key replica, authorized in 1948 to be awarded annually to outstanding junior and senior engineering students in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

“I feel extremely honored to receive the award,” said Bohrer-Padavos. “I am extremely grateful to have others praise the work I have put in to my engineering studies and AFROTC positions.”

Nominees and awardees must be in the top 25% of their engineering class and the top 25% of their ROTC class. Bohrer-Padavos has a GPA of 3.76 and has made the Dean's list six times.

Hailing from Merced, Calif., the Aerospace Engineering senior is in his last semester at Embry-Riddle. After securing a post-graduation pilot slot with the U.S. Air Force, he plans on becoming a fighter pilot and one day hopes to attend Test Pilot School to aid in becoming an astronaut.

“Serafino certainly deserved this award,” said Dean Ron Madler. “I am sure he will have a great and rewarding Air Force career.”
