Odle began his career as a rescue swimmer in the United States Navy. His role involved intense training and a commitment to serving others. After a few years of service, he was ready to take on a new challenge: higher education.

He chose Embry-Riddle’s Worldwide Campus because of the flexibility that its online courses provided. "Embry-Riddle's online setup was so consistent that being able to know what to expect was really helpful as I was balancing work and my education,” Odle said.

Beginning in 2017, Odle started pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. “The professors I had were not only knowledgeable but also had impressive resumes. Their real-world experience greatly enhanced my learning. And they were willing to work with me, understanding the unique challenges I faced juggling military service and assignment deadlines,” Odle added.

After completing his bachelor’s degree, he transitioned from the Navy to civilian life. His next move put him directly into a program management position with the Sierra Nevada Corporation where his engineering degree would play a pivotal role. Jason seamlessly stepped into the world of new products and systems, speaking the language of engineers thanks to what he learned in his studies.

Combining his degree with his background as a weapons and tactics instructor, including skills like submarine hunting and electronic warfare, further bolstered his expertise as he began overseeing the production of ELINT technology that would be integrated into uncrewed systems.

Using the GI Bill, Odle is set to complete his master's degree in Uncrewed Systems in March 2024. His journey has been marked by supportive faculty and staff who are always eager to help. He also credits his success to his faith and family, specifically his wife, Ashley. Odle's story is one of resilience, adaptability and the pursuit of knowledge—a true embodiment of a lifelong learner.
