Graduating Students and Alumni From Around Europe Gather For Embry-Riddle Worldwide Europe Ceremony & Reception

Graduates, special guests and university representatives were among those attending the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Worldwide Europe commencement ceremony at the Lufthansa Training and Conference Center in Seeheim, Germany, Saturday, May 20.

More than 100 students received 110 degrees through Embry-Riddle Worldwide Europe this spring. Associates’ and bachelor’s degrees were awarded in Aeronautics, Aviation Maintenance, Technical Management, Engineering Technology and Aviation Business Administration. Master’s degrees were awarded in Aeronautics, Project Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Human Security and Resilience, Leadership and Occupational Safety Management. 

“All of us at Embry-Riddle Worldwide are extremely proud of your achievements and confident of your success,” Embry-Riddle Worldwide Chancellor Dr. John R. Watret said to the graduating class of 2017 as he opened the ceremony. “This is a day of great celebration.” 

Dr. Bob Walton, Executive Director, Campus Operations, International, welcomed the students, families and guests to the ceremony, saying: “It is a true privilege for Embry-Riddle to be able to support our troops overseas with their educational needs.”

William Muldoon, Embry-Riddle Worldwide Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jason Ruckert, Vice Chancellor for Online Education, Dr. Donna Roberts, Associate Professor for the College of Arts and Sciences and Wendy Byrd, Associate Executive Director, Campus Operations, U.S., completed the platform party. Nicola Brady, Stuttgart Assistant Campus Director, served as the ceremony’s reader.

“This year's European Commencement was another example of how talented students utilize our flexible offerings to complete their degrees from anywhere in the world,” said Dr. Ruckert. “These graduates completed degree requirements while continuing to honor their career and family obligations, and we commend them on their extraordinary dedication.” 

The guest speaker was Professor Geert Boosten, MSc, doctoral advisor, professor and head of the Aviation Department at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, where he is also responsible for the research unit in Aviation Management. Boosten has spent 29 years in the aviation industry as a commercial management and business development consultant, having been involved in the strategy and/or masterplan development of Toronto International Airport, JFK Airport in New York, Brisbane International Airport and many other major airports around the world.
