Daytona Beach Campus Sends Off 750 Graduates

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University awarded 750 diplomas to graduating seniors during its Spring Commencement Ceremony Tuesday, May 10, at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. A total of 67 students in the graduating class earned military commissions, including 36 students from the Air Force ROTC, 11 from the Army ROTC and 20 from the Navy ROTC.

Embry-Riddle alumnus Robert Sumwalt delivered the commencement address. He has been a member of the National Transportation Safety Board since 2006, including a two-year term as vice chairman. Previously, Sumwalt was a pilot with Piedmont Airlines and US Airways, accumulating more than 14,000 hours.

“Do what you love, do it well and do it with passion, integrity and professionalism,” Sumwalt told graduates during the commencement address.
