By connecting the campus community to the world of physics, Embry-Riddle’s Society of Physics Students Chapter was recently named an outstanding chapter for its activities, research and involvement in the supporting the science community.

The chapter recently received the honor from the Society of Physics Students, a national association for students who are interested in physics. The level of distinction is given to the top 61 chapters out of 781 around the globe. Outstanding chapters are ranked on SPS activities in research, participation, tutoring, providing social interactions and participating in SPS regional and national programs.

Embry-Riddle Chapter President and Physics student Andrew McNaughton said the chapter is open to anyone with an interest in learning more about physics and is designed to build relationships on and off campus. The chapter provides opportunities for students to attend national conferences, network and find career opportunities.

“SPS is a club for physics enthusiasts that wish to pursue new learning experiences and connect with others in the physics field,” McNaughton said.

The Embry-Riddle chapter meets every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences Room 317. Upcoming activities include indestructible bubbles, an electricity day challenge and a guest lecture. For more information, email mcnaugh@my.erau.edu.
