Watch: Security Studies Professor Lectures at Smithsonian Institution

Dr. Bill Lahneman, professor in the Security Studies and International Affairs Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach Campus, lectured about Herbert Yardley, known as the “father of American cryptology,” at the Smithsonian Institution / International Spy Museum last fall.

In his presentation, Dr. Lahneman discussed the “parallels between Yardley and Edward Snowden, who blew the whistle in 2013 about how the National Security Agency was collecting bulk emails and telephone information on Americans and mining the data to detect potential terrorists.”
