More Than 100 Continue Graduation Tradition at Asia Campus Commencement Dinner

Since graduating its first batch of full-time undergraduate students in 2015, Embry-Riddle Asia has created a tradition by holding a graduation dinner following its commencement ceremony. The formal event is a student-organized gathering allowing graduates a final celebration together, and it marks the end of students' journeys in the classroom while kicking off the start of their careers in aviation.

The theme of this year's event was “A Night at the Oscars,” featuring awards such as Professor of the Year, Best Dressed and Favorite Course, each voted on by students. More than 100 attended the event, held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The Commencement

Nearly 100 students graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Asia with undergraduate and graduate degrees in aeronautics, aviation business administration and aviation maintenance. These students pursued degrees with Embry-Riddle Asia through partnerships with SIM University, Singapore Aviation Academy and the ERC Institute. Since 2011, Embry-Riddle has been offering courses in Singapore to prepare students for the country’s booming aviation industry.

Senior Advisor, Ministry of Transport, Mr. Yap Ong Heng delivered the commencement address to the graduates, commenting, Each and every one of you can rise to the occasion, rally others and seize the day. Think about it. Without the big dreams and perseverance of the pioneers, we would not have the aircraft flights and many other groundbreaking innovations that we take for granted today.”

Since its first commencement ceremony in 2012, Embry-Riddle has conferred over 300 degrees from its Singapore Campus.
