WeatherFlow-Tempest — a pioneering leader in weather technology and environmental monitoring solutions and an Embry-Riddle Research Park tenant partner — has announced a successful growth financing round, raising $3 million from WindSail Capital Group.

As a part of this development, WeatherFlow-Tempest has also made the strategic decision to officially move its corporate address to its existing operations at Embry-Riddle’s Research Park facility in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Rodney Cruise, senior vice president and chief operating officer at Embry-Riddle, congratulated the Tempest team on the company’s growth and expansion. “WeatherFlow-Tempest has been an instrumental part of our Research Park. The team pushes the boundaries of technology and is committed to growth, making them a perfect fit for our ecosystem of innovative companies,” he said. “Their commitment to move their headquarters to our Research Park is great news, and we look forward to our continued collaboration.”

Cruise added that Embry-Riddle used the company’s cutting-edge TempestOne technology to gather data on the Daytona Beach Campus during Hurricane Helene.

The Tempest and TempestOne weather systems employ site-specific weather data and artificial intelligence-driven modeling to deliver more accurate weather information to residential and commercial customers. The technology, additionally, helps users save water and energy while powering smart irrigation and energy solutions.

WeatherFlow-Tempest is rapidly expanding the deployment of its weather station network, while increasing its set of decision tools available to business customers. To date, the company has deployed more than 80,000 stations, primarily in North America.

David St. John, WeatherFlow-Tempest co-founder and chief technology officer, said that “the partnership with Windsail will provide additional capital and support as Tempest continues to grow its operations and expand our offerings.” He added, “I believe our connection to Embry-Riddle is a big part of our continued success, and we are extremely grateful to be part of the Research Park.”

Buck Lyons, CEO and co-founder of WeatherFlow-Tempest, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with WindSail Capital for the next stage of the company’s growth. “Our capabilities in onsite weather monitoring and prediction capabilities are unparalleled, and we are investing to ensure we remain the business leaders,” he said in a statement.

“The combination of our Tempest Home and TempestOne Weather Stations, and our ability to deliver unique data via API and powerful tools, positions the business for sustained growth within several large markets,” he added. “Most importantly, we have proven our ability to operate profitably while helping customers save energy and water, and generally optimize outcomes that are affected by weather. It's now time to invest in rapid growth."

Tempest's innovative suite of products, including the acclaimed Tempest Weather System for consumers and professionals, leverage advanced machine learning and AI to deliver precise, real-time weather data and forecasting using its proprietary Nearcast™ technology. The company also has a suite of highly successful proprietary Lifestyle Apps. Now, with critical mass in network coverage, Tempest is increasingly focused on its business offerings.

"WindSail is excited to partner with the WeatherFlow-Tempest team as we see weather events continue to pose greater challenges for businesses and individuals alike," said Ian Bowles, managing director and co-founder of WindSail. "We believe Tempest's ability to accurately predict highly localized weather, through a decentralized and scalable solution with cutting edge hardware, modeling and software capabilities, will continue to set them apart from others in the market."
