Two Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University students were awarded 2022-2023 Project Finish Line scholarships, worth up to $10,000, from the Western Union Foundation.

Thien Phuc Nguyen, a senior Aerospace Engineering student, received a $10,000 scholarship as part of the Western Union Foundation’s Project Finish Line program. A collaboration between the foundation and Western Union’s Black Advisory Council, Project Finish Line assists junior or senior Black, Indigenous and underserved students trying to complete their degree programs.

“Receiving this award, I am able to focus more of my time and energy towards my degree, as well as multiple side projects on campus,” said Nguyen, who was born in Vietnam and moved as a teen to Santa Rosa, California. “After graduation, I want to work as an engineer focusing on hypersonic aircraft and missiles development.”

Arianna Tabatabaei, a Simulation Science, Games and Animation major from San Diego, California, was awarded a $5,000 Project Finish Line scholarship.

Htet Myat, an Aeronautical Science student from Burma, was named an alternate for the 2022-2023 Global Scholars program, also sponsored by the Western Union Foundation. The Global Scholars initiative helps international students from low-income countries studying in several countries, including the United States.
