Staff Spotlight: Lead Flight Supervisor, Chris Deputy

Chris Deputy is a lead flight supervisor and has been with Embry-Riddle for 16 years. Originally from New Jersey, he attended Jacksonville University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management and Flight Operations. He also has a Master of Science in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle.

Chris and his team oversee the flight operations, ensuring a safe flight training environment. They set the pilot qualifications based on observations, forecasts and pilot reports. They are the point of contact to assist students and instructors with issues related to weather, operations and maintenance. “The most rewarding part of my job is seeing how students gain confidence during their solo flights and being able to help students and instructors make safe informed decisions about their flights,” Deputy says.

The knowledge, experience and customer service of the flight supervisors are vital to the safety of the Flight department. Chris places a strong emphasis on teamwork and believes he could not do what he does without the other flight supervisors, dispatch, maintenance, management, instructor pilots and students.

Chris is married and has three children. He enjoys watching rockets launch from Cape Canaveral. In his spare time, he volunteers with his church as a greeter and Deacon.
