NASBA Registry of CPE Sponsors Confers CPE Sponsor Status on Embry-Riddle’s Professional Programs

Several aviation accounting and finance courses offered by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University have earned approval from the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy’s National Registry of CPE Sponsors. This designation makes the courses eligible for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for certified public accountants (CPAs).
Approval by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) marks a milestone for Embry-Riddle’s Professional Programs. The approval signifies that the courses comply with the rigorous requirements set by “The Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education Programs,” published jointly by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and NASBA.
“Our inclusion in the National Registry of CPE Sponsors represents a major step forward in Embry-Riddle’s Professional Programs’ mission to offer innovative and impactful programs for professionals to continue developing their skills and enhancing their careers,” said Sarah Ochs, director of Professional Programs on the Daytona Beach Campus. “It not only highlights the quality of our aviation accounting and finance courses but also opens new doors for CPAs seeking to advance their expertise in this field.”
The approved courses cater to professionals in various roles, including aviation finance managers, government auditors and asset appraisers. Dr. Bert Zarb, vice provost for Academic Affairs and professor of Accounting, said that NASBA's approval “underscores Embry-Riddle’s dedication to advancing industry-specific expertise and providing exceptional opportunities for lifelong learning.”
Embry-Riddle’s Office of Professional Programs currently offers five Aviation Accounting and Finance courses, all approved for NASBA CPE credit. These courses also serve as eligible electives for the Certificate of Management in Aviation Accounting and Finance.
The five courses currently available are the following:
- Aviation Asset Valuation and Aircraft Appraisal

The courses are four weeks in duration and designed for flexibility through online delivery. CPAs who complete them can earn a total of 103.5 NASBA CPE credits.
The courses also meet Government Accountability Office’s Yellow Book CPE requirements under generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS). Credits are awarded through the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy Fields of Study: Accounting, Finance, Accounting-Government and Auditing-Government.
“The David B. O’Maley College of Business is proud to have contributed to this milestone for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University,” said Dr. Gabrielle G. McClure-Nelson, CPA, assistant professor and former U.S. Department of Defense audit manager. “We have created a practical, niche program of study that is valuable to our aviation-aeronautical constituents.”
