Good News – Embry-Riddle Resumes Normal Operations

Plane taking off at sunrise.

Dear Eagles:

Your personal discipline and perseverance over the past year have been remarkable. Now, thanks in large part to your diligence and Eagle spirit, I’m delighted to announce that Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is resuming normal operations.

Effective immediately, masks will be optional for students, faculty, staff and guests at Embry-Riddle, in keeping with recently released U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance.

If you have not yet been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, we strongly encourage you to continue wearing a mask, as the CDC advises. However, Embry-Riddle will no longer ask anyone to display their All Clear designation.

To help keep our community as safe as possible, please get your Covid-19 vaccination as soon as possible if you have not yet done so. Keep your end game in mind. If your goal is to work in the aviation and aerospace industry, be aware that some employers are already requiring vaccination for new hires. If you have questions about vaccines, speak with your trusted family doctor or Embry-Riddle’s healthcare professionals.

All of you – students, faculty, staff and families – have pulled together in many different ways during a challenging year. Take a moment to pat yourselves on the back. To our students – you have demonstrated exceptional integrity, strength and persistence that will serve you well throughout your lives and careers. You were flexible in adapting to a new situation and made the right choices. Well done, and thank you, once again.

If you have questions about other safety protocols, please consult our Frequently Asked Questions, which we will be updating in the coming days.

Sincerely,

P. Barry Butler, Ph.D.
President
