Dr. Ramy Rahimi, director of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, has been named a Specialist in Innovation, Technology Commercialization and Entrepreneurship by the Fulbright Association, an honor that makes him eligible to be matched with a project or host institution in one of more than 150 participating countries around the world.

“I will engage in short-term, collaborative projects, such as consulting, training and conducting workshops,” said Rahimi, who also serves as an assistant professor of entrepreneurship at Embry-Riddle’s David B. O’Maley College of Business. “I anticipate my assignments to begin within the next few months, and I will be matched with institutions that can benefit from my expertise.”

Rahimi was selected due to his many accomplishments in the fields of business and academia, including his extensive experience in technology development, founding and leading multiple successful startup ventures — such as BIGPIE and ESHIPCARE — his work at Embry-Riddle, and his role as a visiting professor of special programs at the Defense Acquisition University. Additionally, he has published research in academic journals, including the International Journal of Vehicle Design and the Journal of Marketing Analytics.

“Through the Fulbright Specialist Program, I hope to accomplish several key objectives,” Rahimi added. “I want to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, promote technology commercialization practices that can be adopted globally, build lasting international collaborations that enhance the exchange of knowledge and best practices, and mentor and inspire emerging innovators around the world.”

The award comes with a three-year tenure.

“A big thank you to my colleagues, Drs. Maria Petrescu and Ahmed Abdelghany, who have supported me through this process,” Rahimi wrote on LinkedIn, acknowledging the recognition. “Your encouragement and guidance have been invaluable.”
