One of the largest workplace recognition programs in the country, the Great Colleges to Work For® program recognizes colleges that earn top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies. In its 17th year, the program also aims to further research and understand the factors that most impact organizational culture in higher education.
“There can be no doubt the stresses and challenges facing higher education today are collectively unprecedented,” said Richard K. Boyer, Chief Culture Strategist at ModernThink, the strategic human capital consulting firm that administered the survey and analyzed the results. “(But) in the 2024 Great Colleges to Work For awardees, we have examples of institutions that have navigated these tumultuous times holding true to their missions and values and never losing sight of the importance of their people.”
The program evaluated colleges through a two-part assessment process, which includes employment data and workplace policies from each institution and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. Employee feedback served as the primary factor for determining recognition by the program.
