Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium to Offer Free Shows Jan. 19 and 20

Join us for the public premiere of the new Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott Campus on Friday, Jan. 19, and Saturday, Jan. 20. A total of nine showings of “The Prescott Winter Night Sky” will be offered to the public, free of charge. The 30-minute show will explore the various constellations, planets, and deep sky objects that will be visible from here in the Prescott area. The 9 p.m. show on Jan. 19 will also include a post-show discussion with night sky experts from the Prescott Astronomy Club.
“With our new planetarium we can travel to and fro across the cosmos to some of the most marvelous vistas out there in space,” said Eric Edelman, Planetarium Director. “We are going to start our cosmic journey right here at home by taking a closer look at the stars twinkling in our very own Prescott night sky.”
Space is limited and tickets are required. Guests must arrive at least 10 minutes prior to showtime. For more information on the planetarium or to reserve free tickets, visit the Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium webpage.
A new “Community Events” section has been added to the Embry-Riddle Prescott website. Additional planetarium shows, NAIA athletic events, Embry-Riddle’s Speaker Series and concerts are just a few of the events that are featured and open to the community.
“From the outset we want the planetarium to be a Prescott resource, to offer educational and entertaining content to our neighbors,” said Embry-Riddle Prescott Chancellor Dr. Frank Ayers. “Embry-Riddle is proud to be a part of the greater Prescott area and the Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium is just another example of our contribution to the community.”
