The event centered on the society’s core motto, Scientia Mutua Mundi (World’s Shared Knowledge), celebrating the bridge between international scholarship and aviation leadership.

Addressing the inaugural class, Dr. Erik Jon Byker, international president of the Phi Beta Delta (PBD) Honor Society, shared, “This chapter stands as a shining example of how institutions can weave internationalism into the very fabric of their academic identity.”

Phi Beta Delta president-elect Dr. Marsha Hardy added, “This dynamic group brings strong leadership and a clear commitment to international scholarly excellence. We look forward to the collaboration and positive impact they will undoubtedly contribute in this exciting, shared journey.”

The ceremony highlighted the induction of several key honorary members whose foundational support was vital to the chapter’s launch. Distinguished honorees included Chancellor Dr. John R. Watret; Deans Dr. Bettina Mrusek and Dr. Alexander Siedschlag; and Dr. Timothy A. Smith. Also recognized for their contributions were Husain Mohsen Ali Bushehri, Wendi R. Trumbo and James White. Chapter President Dr. Leila Halawi reflected on the collective effort required to reach this day. “This milestone simply would not have been possible without the vision, drive and unwavering support of our leadership. Their commitment to global education provided the foundation we needed to bring this prestigious society to our Worldwide campus.”

Dr. Hyunkyoung Oh, CEO and executive director of the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars, recognized this milestone as well. “The Theta Sigma chapter exemplifies how institutions can meaningfully integrate internationalism into the core of their academic identity. I extend my sincere appreciation for their initiative, vision and leadership in establishing the Theta Sigma PBD chapter, thereby strengthening the mission and presence of the PBD within their academic community.”
