Only four new Covid-19 cases were detected across Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for the time frame Feb. 25 – March 3. The four new cases were at the Daytona Beach, Florida, campus, where two people were instructed to quarantine.

At Embry-Riddle’s Prescott, Arizona, campus as well as the Worldwide Headquarters campus, there were no new cases at all.

With the global pandemic appearing to wind down at last, Embry-Riddle will continue to strongly encourage Covid-19 vaccinations and booster shots. We will also continue to suggest that everyone should be aware of, and consider following the current mask guidelines set forth by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).

CDC Eases Mask Guidelines

Over the past week, with Covid-19 cases trending sharply downward, the CDC eased its mask guidelines. Now, masks are recommended for individuals who are at high risk for severe illness as well as those who live or work in areas with higher levels of community transmission. You can check your county’s risk level on this webpage.

As of March 4, the community risk level has been classified as Medium for both Volusia County and Yavapai County, where Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach and Prescott Campuses are located. In these counties, the CDC recommends that if you are at high risk for severe illness, you should talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions. Stay up to date with your Covid-19 vaccines, and get tested if you have symptoms.

As always, stay home if you are sick and practice rigorous hand hygiene.
