Embry-Riddle Reports Covid-19 Test Results, Monitors Federal Vaccine Discussions
Twenty-four people at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University tested positive for Covid-19, during the timeframe Sept. 9-16. That case count included 15 at our Daytona Beach, Florida campus, eight at our Prescott, Arizona campus, and one new positive case at our Worldwide Headquarters campus.
In addition, on the Daytona Beach Campus, 27 people were quarantined after being exposed to the virus during this timeframe. On the Prescott Campus, 13 individuals were quarantined.
Embry-Riddle is continuing to emphasize two key preventive strategies:
- Wear your mask at all times inside Embry-Riddle buildings and aircraft.
- Get vaccinated as soon as possible, if you have not already done so.
Federal Vaccination Discussions
University leadership is actively monitoring conversations at the federal level concerning possible Covid-19 vaccination requirements for certain workers. These discussions, between the U.S. President, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Department of Labor, concern the possibility of legal changes that would mandate that companies with at least 100 workers require employees to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
Embry-Riddle administration is tracking the situation closely and will continue to communicate transparently to the Embry-Riddle community as more information is revealed.
In the meantime, we strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible if you have not done so already, and mask up when indoors.
Please review our quarantine and isolation protocols, which are based on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance.
