To prepare the next generation of leaders in defense, intelligence and security fields, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has announced a partnership with The Institute of World Politics (IWP), a premier graduate school that prepares students for service in national and international security roles.

The partnership aims to expand opportunities for students, faculty and professionals through joint academic programs, tailored training and badge programs, which draw on the expertise of both institutions. The collaboration also provides opportunities for professional development, cross-enrollment and faculty and student exchanges.

Collaboration is already underway. Faculty leaders have visited one another’s campuses and participated in academic events, including IWP programs in Washington. IWP professor John Tsagronis recently delivered a distinguished lecture at Embry-Riddle’s Prescott Campus.

The institutions have also opened opportunities for Embry-Riddle students and alumni to apply for internships and coursework at IWP and are engaging industry partners to align credentialing and badge offerings with workforce needs.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., The Institute of World Politics provides deep expertise in strategic intelligence, statecraft, counterintelligence and diplomatic history. Equipping students to operate effectively in the security environment of the 21st century, the Institute offers master’s, doctoral and professional certificate programs in national security, intelligence and international affairs.

The collaboration between IWP and Embry-Riddle will prepare students to serve in leadership roles across government, military, intelligence and private sector security organizations worldwide.

“This partnership leverages the strengths of both institutions to address some of the most pressing challenges in national and global security,” said Christopher Glass, president of IWP. “Our combined expertise in strategy, intelligence and security studies will provide students and professionals with unparalleled resources and training.”

Dr. Tom Drape, dean of the College of Business, Security and Intelligence at Embry-Riddle, said that “by joining forces with IWP, we’re giving our students direct access to advanced expertise in strategy and intelligence in the heart of our Nation's Capital.”

“It’s an opportunity to accelerate their education and broaden their perspectives as they step confidently into leadership roles in these critical fields,” he added.
