During an official visit to Italy with the Select Florida International Trade and Business Mission to Italy, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University announced a critical partnership with Sapienza Università di Roma, which will serve as the foundation for collaborative research projects and pave the way for future joint initiatives that offer diverse opportunities for faculty and students from Embry-Riddle as well as students and faculty from Sapienza.

Embry-Riddle expects the partnership to foster cultural and academic exchanges, encourage diverse approaches to global challenges, and help to strengthen economic ties between Florida and Italy.

“We are excited to partner with Embry-Riddle to benefit our first- and second-level programs and degrees in aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, and space and astronautical engineering and offer an exchange of expertise that enriches the experience of our students, offering unparalleled opportunities,” said Dr. Franco Mastroddi, chair of the academic council of aerospace engineering at Sapienza University.

In an announcement on social media, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis hailed the announcement as “a great example of the global attraction that Florida universities have, and their world-class offerings in practical education opportunities.”

Led by Governor Ron DeSantis, International Trade and Business Mission to Italy included representatives from select Florida companies, ports, universities, hospitals, and key economic development organizations — including Space Florida.

Embry-Riddle Chief Operating Officer Rodney Cruise expressed his appreciation to Governor DeSantis, Lieutenant Governor Nuñez and the Florida legislature for their forward-thinking approach to global partnerships. “Florida has the right business environment to attract and retain business, fuel global growth, and offer unmatched educational partnerships as we continue to prepare the workforce of the future,” said Mr. Cruise. “We couldn’t be more pleased to collaborate with Sapienza Università di Roma to further the professional pursuits of the students from each institution.”
