Embry-Riddle Celebrates Juneteenth

Dear students, faculty and staff,
A critical day in American history, Juneteenth marks a major national milestone: decades of struggle and sacrifice that ultimately freed enslaved people from bondage on June 19, 1865. Embry-Riddle celebrates Juneteenth as a day of healing, and as a reminder of the many important figures from our history who dedicated their lives to the fight for civil rights.
As lifelong learners, it is our duty to take an honest look at the past, mining it for lessons in how to build our communities in the present. This process is not always easy, but acknowledging uncomfortable truths about ourselves is ultimately how we grow as people, right cultural wrongs and reinforce our desire to live in a world that prioritizes inclusivity and equality for all.
Today, we remember yesterday in order to build a better tomorrow. Join me in embracing justice, progress and hope, and together we can inspire each other.
