Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is the newest member of the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN), a network of universities dedicated to instilling an entrepreneurial mindset in engineering students.

"We are excited to introduce Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at Prescott as the newest member of the KEEN network," said Dr. A. L. Ranen McLanahan, program director for the Kern Family Foundation. "Known for their exceptional engineering and aeronautics programs, Embry-Riddle's vision for integrating an entrepreneurial mindset into their curriculum is commendable. With a strong focus on project-based and discovery-driven undergraduate programs, Embry-Riddle's participation in KEEN will undoubtedly bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to our community."

Institutions in the KEEN network are committed to reaching 100% of their undergraduate engineering students with an entrepreneurial mindset. Through faculty development programs, conferences and events, faculty can collaborate and gain best practices to better reach their students.

“We are thrilled to join the KEEN network and provide our students with the exceptional resources and opportunities it offers,” said David Lanning, associate dean of the College of Engineering and professor of Aerospace Engineering. “This achievement is the culmination of years of collaboration between faculty and administrators, as well as the unwavering support of Dr. Dietman Rempfer, dean for the College of Engineering.”

Membership connects Prescott Campus faculty with a network of over 60 fellow university partners, representing thousands of engineering faculty.

Faculty representatives Lanning and Dr. Hadi Ali, assistant professor of Aerospace Engineering, attended an orientation summit at the Kern Family Foundation headquarters in Wisconsin from June 17-19, where they gained further insights into the benefits of KEEN network partnerships.

"This membership marks a leap forward for the Prescott Campus," said Lanning. "It provides a foundation for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within our College of Engineering."
