The Advanced Air Mobility Association (AAMA) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University marked a significant milestone in advanced air mobility in early May, as AAMA held its Readiness Lab Beta Test.

As AAMA’s inaugural event, the beta test gathered advanced air mobility (AAM) experts, community leaders and AAM industry professionals for key discussions about the integration of AAM technologies into communities.

More than 50 participants convened at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach Campus on May 8 to share insights and solutions around community readiness for AAM, the safe introduction and operation of AAM, environmental considerations and the role of multi-use vertiports.

During the event, participants developed a set of roadmaps with solutions grounded in the real-world experiences of involved communities.

"The collaboration between community leaders, industry experts and academics created a fertile ground for innovative solutions,” said Antonio Campello, the chief executive officer of AAMA. "This beta test has demonstrated the power of collaboration and innovation in shaping the future of air mobility. Together, we are working to ensure that AAM solutions are not only technologically advanced and safe but also deeply integrated into the fabric of our communities."

“We were pleased to host AAMA's inaugural event and to participate in critical conversations about the future of advanced air mobility,” Dr. Jim Gregory, dean of Embry-Riddle’s College of Engineering, added. “We look forward to future AAMA events and ongoing dialogue with industry and community leaders."

Embry-Riddle began its partnership with AAMA in the fall of 2024. The collaboration facilitates research around and development of the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem through joint projects, internship opportunities and educational programs.
