Embry-Riddle Athletics Announces Strategic Plan TogethER We Win

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Director of Athletics Dr. Rachel Burleson has announced the official rollout for the new Athletic Strategic Plan: TogethER We Win, a comprehensive initiative that outlines the vision and priorities for Embry-Riddle Athletics.
TogethER We Win represents an evolution for Embry-Riddle Athletics, uniting student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni and supporters behind the commitment to excellence in academics, competition and community engagement.
This strategic plan was crafted in a joint effort from internal and external stakeholders with the expectation to align the department with the broader mission and values of Embry-Riddle. TogethER We Win is a call to action, a declaration of what’s possible when a united community sets its sights on what’s next and refuses to settle for anything less than bold.
TogethER We Win will serve the athletics department from 2025-2028 with four key pillars:
- Student-Athlete Experience - Deliver an exceptional and enriching experience that supports the academic, personal and athletic growth of Embry-Riddle student-athletes.
- Build the Brand - Foster a vibrant and connected athletics community that elevates Eagle pride/spirit and strengthens the University’s reputation.
- Financial Performance - Secure long-term financial sustainability and strategic growth to support the success and expansion of all athletic programs while aligning with university vision.
- Organizational Clarity - Cultivate a collaborative work environment where athletics staff clearly understand the department and institution’s mission, goals and their individual contributions toward achieving them.
“When we set out to create TogethER We Win, we drew inspiration from the university’s Institutional Strategic Plan to ensure every pillar of our vision is in lockstep with the university’s boldest goals,” Burleson stated. “At the heart of our plan is an unwavering commitment to the Student–Person–Player philosophy, because our mission is bigger than athletics; it’s about shaping lives.”
“The future ahead is nothing short of extraordinary, and together we will forge a lasting legacy, one that empowers generations of student-athletes to rise higher, dream bigger and achieve more than ever before.”
Embry-Riddle has a rich history that is rooted in spirit, tradition, innovation, hard work and success. In 1988, the athletics department began with three sports and no scholarships. Today, Embry-Riddle Athletics now includes 22 sports, 500-plus student-athletes, over 170 conference titles and 35 national championships.
In addition to success in competition, Embry-Riddle boasts a department average GPA of over 3.4, which displays the academic dominance of each student-athlete. Being an Eagle is all about being a great student, a great person and a great player. Embry-Riddle is tried and true, and the story isn’t over.
“TogethER We Win stands as a testament to our steadfast commitment to empowering scholar-athletes,” said Embry-Riddle President P. Barry Butler. “This initiative champions a future of lifelong achievement by helping students overcome challenges, seize new opportunities and realize their fullest potential. Together, we create an environment where ambition is rewarded, and aspirations become reality.”
