Embry-Riddle Asia Celebrates Milestone, Awards 1,000th Degree

Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University’s Asia Campus has reached a significant milestone — the conferral of its 1,000th degree.
The awarding of the degree — which occurred at a December commencement ceremony — marks an important chapter for the campus, which held its first commencement in 2012 and has solidified Embry-Riddle’s presence in the heart of Singapore’s aerospace ecosystem.
“As we celebrate the conferral of our 1,000th degree, we reflect on how far we have come over the last 14 years and the importance of evolving alongside the industry's needs,” said Worldwide Campus Chancellor John R. Watret, Ph.D.

In 2024, Embry-Riddle Asia conferred nearly 60 bachelor's and master's degrees in fields that include Aeronautics, Aviation Business Administration and Engineering. At its Dec. 6 commencement ceremony, the keynote address was delivered by Jonathan Hung, a 2004 graduate of Embry-Riddle and executive director of the Office for Space Technology & Industry at Singapore's National Space Office.
Hung offered insights on innovation and global collaboration within aerospace, and he encouraged graduates to embrace the opportunities and challenges in this dynamic industry.
"This ceremony, and the milestone of conferring our 1,000th, marks the culmination of a very exciting year for Embry-Riddle Asia," said Matthew Flaherty, vice chancellor and head of Embry-Riddle Asia.
In July, Embry-Riddle’s Asia Campus relocated to a new state-of-the-art training center at Seletar Aerospace Park in Singapore. The new facility, co-located with Air 7 Asia, hosts immersive virtual training labs, advanced air traffic management simulation systems and specialized uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) training areas.
"With the move to our new campus and training center, we have entered a new phase of growth and opportunity. Our students, faculty and alumni continue to inspire us, and we are proud of our role in advancing aviation and aerospace education in the region," he said.
