Eagle Professor Earns Early Career Award for Environmental Engineering
Dr. Marwa M.H. El-Sayed, an assistant professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach Campus, was recently selected for the American Institute for Chemical Engineer's Environmental Division Early Career award.
She will receive the award, which honors individuals in the early stages of their careers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of environmental chemical engineering, at the institute’s annual meeting in Octoberin San Diego. There, she will also present a talk titled “Advancing Environmental Justice and Sustainability in Monitoring Emerging Air Pollutants.”
Additionally, El-Sayed, who leads the university’s Sustainability and Environmental Engineering Lab, visited the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Washington, as well as its Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), this summer as part of her ongoing EMSL user project. She also recently presented a seminar at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory on aerosols and atmospheric micro- and nano-plastics.
"I'm excited to share that I'll be presenting findings of this work, funded by a National Science Foundation faculty travel grant, at the upcoming American Geophysical Union conference in Washington, D.C. this December,” she said.
El-Sayed was also elected as a member of the board of directors for the American Association of Aerosol Research, effective in October. She is co-chair of communications for the associate board of directors for the Earth Science Women Network.Posted In: Engineering | Institutional News
