Welcome to Spring 2021 from Worldwide Career Services
Happy New Year and welcome to the 2021 Spring academic term! On behalf of WW Career Services, we hope you enjoyed a safe and Happy Holiday break. If you, your family and/or friends experienced challenges due to the ongoing pandemic, we sincerely express our sincerest empathy, support and well wishes for a speedy recovery!
On an optimistic note, we are very excited with great anticipation for the tremendous potential on the horizon in 2021 for Worldwide students and alumni. Under the new Dean of Students Office, WW Career Services fully embraced the challenges in 2020 for the increased need of virtual career support to students and alumni. WW Career Services joined forces with our colleagues from Daytona Beach and Prescott Career Services as well as Alumni Relations to conduct virtual info group and individual career sessions. The impact of this engagement resulted in tremendous positive feedback from students and alumni experiencing job losses, employer layoffs, and delayed co-op/internships. In 2021, WW Career Services will continue to increase its virtual engagement with Worldwide students and alumni via Zoom or Team sessions. New or updated career resources and/or tools will also be available to all ERAU students and alumni, including Big Interview (an interview prep tool) and Interstride (career resource for international and domestic students).
Embry-Riddle Worldwide Campus has consistently been recognized as a recipient of the U.S. News & World Report “Best Online Bachelor’s & Veterans Programs,” including in 2020. This demonstrates Worldwide’s commitment to academic excellence by Embry-Riddle leadership, academic colleges, and departments. In 2021, WW Career Services is excited to support increased internal partnerships focusing on the preparation of non-traditional students for career success. WW faculty members, Assistant Dean Dr. Tracey Richardson (College of Business) and Assistant Professor Chris Janke (College of Aeronautics), will pilot an increased focus of career preparation in several courses with the integration of Career Services-related content or assignments for students. In addition, over 15 Worldwide students have submitted applications for the Workforce Recruitment Program, a recruitment and referral program connecting federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs. Students will also have increasing access to mentorship and career sessions with exceptional faculty members.
Higher education institutions were not the only ones having to make major adjustments to normal business operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Employers continue to embrace and modify business and hiring initiatives to offer increased access to virtual internship opportunities. Additionally, WW students and alumni are invited to participate in the Embry-Riddle 2021 Spring and Fall Industry/Career Expo events sponsored by the Daytona Beach and Prescott residential campuses. Please login to your student Handshake profile for additional information to register for the upcoming Spring Industry/Career Expo on Feb. 25.
Finally, WW Career Services and the WW Dean of Students Office welcomes the installation of officers for the newly created WW Student Government Association! We look forward to a phenomenal year and hope you will connect with us soon via email at wwcarser@erau.edu or via ERAU Worldwide Career Services Facebook page.
