“The World Awaits” with Tastes and Tattoos at Embry-Riddle
Daytona Beach, Fla., Feb. 7, 2007 -- Students from around the world will offer tantalizing tastes and temporary tattoos at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach campus on Saturday, Feb. 24.
“The World Awaits” is the theme of this year’s International Day, a tradition at the university for 20 years.
Music, food, arts, and information will be available to visitors at booths and displays representing Africa, the Caribbean, France, Hungary, India, Singapore, and many other places from which Embry-Riddle students come.
Visitors may purchase tickets to taste and sample mouth-watering foods from many nations. Also for a fee, students from India will paint temporary tattoos on visitors’ skin, using henna dye, in highly decorative designs that adorn brides during traditional Indian wedding ceremonies.
Other entertainment at the International Day will include:
* A student from China will perform traditional Chinese ribbon and fan dances.
* A group of students will give tae kwan do demonstrations.
* A group of Indian students will perform Indian dancing moves.
* A student from Saudi Arabia will play the oud, a Middle Eastern stringed instrument.
* A Honduran student will play the guitar and violin.
Admission to International Day at Embry-Riddle is free and open to the public. Activities will take place on campus from 1-5 p.m. in the John Paul Riddle Student Center. For more information on the day’s events, call (386) 226-6579.
