Dr. Anne Boettcher, Director of Embry-Riddle Prescott's Undergraduate Research Institute and Honors Program has been elected to serve as the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) President for 2017-2018. CUR, with over 700 institutional members and more than 10,000 individual members, supports faculty and student development for high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship.

Boettcher has been an active member of CUR since 2007. She has played an integral role in the organization's leadership as a Division of Undergraduate Research Program Directors' Councilor and Chair, and is a current member of the Executive Board.  Boettcher has also served as an expert facilitator at a variety of CUR professional development workshops, and was one of the founding leaders and designers of CUR's Research Experiences for Undergraduates' Symposium. Additonally, she has relevant experience on campus conducting research, mentoring students, winning grants, and working as an administrator.

"Anne Boettcher will bring so many strengths to the leadership of CUR, including her experiences in diverse institutions as both a faculty member and administrator, her deep connections to the CUR organization, as well as her vision, energy, and collegiality," said Elizabeth Ambos, CUR Executive Officer.

"Interactions with CUR members have provided me with the tools to enhance undergraduate research programming at my home institution and to extend this knowledge to help develop and improve programs at other institutions," said Boettcher. "Our Strategic Pillars provide a solid foundation to guide faculty and administrators as our programs grow and implementation of our Strategic Plan will facilitate the process.  I look forward to working with CUR to expand opportunities for our students, training for our members, and to promote undergraduate research worldwide."

At the close of the 2016 CUR Annual Business Meeting in June, Boettcher will begin a one year term as CUR President-elect, which will be followed by a year as President and a year as Past-President.
