Prescott Business Students Enjoy Success at National Competition

Student business teams at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott Campus took first and third place honors in the Stock Challenge Game, while several other Embry-Riddle students enjoyed top-10 finishes in challenging business events at the prestigious 2017 Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif.  

Embry-Riddle students competed in 15 events over the weekend, leading to several national placements: second place in Financial Analysis and Decision Making, fourth place in Economic Analysis and Decision Making, fifth place in Forensic Accounting, fifth place in Hospitality Management, sixth place in Computer Concepts, eighth place in Macroeconomics, ninth place in Administrative Technology, and 10th place in Retail Management.

“This is an extraordinary accomplishment,” said Dr. Javad Gorjidooz, Business Administration Chair. “Hundreds of notable universities sent thousands of their best and brightest students to this competition. Despite the fierce competition, our students performed admirably in a variety of highly competitive business categories. This performance confirms the high quality of our students, the strength of our Business programs, and the amazing capabilities of our Embry-Riddle faculty.” 

The PBL National Leadership Conference is a highly competitive annual event attended by thousands of students who earned the right to compete nationally by successfully placing first or second in their event at the state level. Competing in this year’s event were formidable competitors from hundreds of notable universities, including University of Arkansas, Florida State University, Illinois State University, University of Nebraska, Northern Kentucky University, University of Miami, Rutgers University, University of Southern California, University of Utah, Northern Arizona University, and many others.
