Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has recently earned a 2016 Military Friendly School designation from Victory Media, the publisher of G.I. Jobs, STEM Jobs, Military Spouse and Vetrepreneur. This is the sixth year in a row that the university has won this honor which acknowledges the accomplishments of all three Embry-Riddle campuses — the residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., and the Worldwide Campus, which delivers courses online and at civilian and military locations around the globe.

The Military Friendly School rating is awarded to the top universities and colleges across the nation that are deeply committed to embracing military students and dedicating resources to ensure their success both in the classroom and after graduation.

This list highlights more than 1,400 Military Friendly Schools exhibiting best practices in support of veterans and their spouses. Colleges were judged on 10 indicators of success, including support for student veterans on campus, military spouse policies and graduation and employment outcomes.

“Postsecondary institutions earning the 2016 Military Friendly School award have exceptionally strong programs for transitioning service members and spouses,” said Daniel Nichols, chief product officer for Victory Media. “Our Military Friendly Schools are truly aligning their military programs and services with employers to help students translate military experience, skills and training into successful careers after graduation.”

Embry-Riddle consistently earns accolades for excellence in veterans education. In 2014, U.S. News & World Report named the university the No. 1 Best College for Veterans in the South for the second year in a row. It also ranks Embry-Riddle highly in the categories of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans, Best Online MBA Programs for Veterans and Best Online Graduate Programs for Veterans (Excluding MBA). Also in 2014, Military Advanced Education designated Embry-Riddle a Top School for Military and Veterans for the sixth consecutive year, and earlier this year U.S. Veterans magazine named Embry-Riddle a Top Veteran-Friendly School.

The Military Friendly Schools designation process by Victory Media includes extensive research and a data-driven survey of thousands of schools nationwide approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding. The school survey, methodology, criteria and weightings are developed with the assistance of an independent advisory board composed of educators and professionals in human resources, diversity and recruitment from across the country. The survey is administered for free and is open to all postsecondary schools. Visit Military Friendly Schools for all of the ratings, lists and program information.
