Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Asia and Pratt & Whitney have joined forces to support India’s emerging aerospace market, as outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding signed Sept. 10. Officials at Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. company, announced the grand opening of its customer training center in Hyderabad to provide key training for Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine and V2500® engine customers.

Pratt & Whitney selected Embry-Riddle Asia to advance its efforts to promote advanced aviation and engineering training and education in India.

“It’s an honor to work with a global leader like Pratt & Whitney as the aerospace industry continues to develop in India,” said Graham Hunt, head of Embry-Riddle Asia. “We know there will be numerous opportunities for collaboration that will benefit the entire aviation community in India and other Asian countries.”

In addition to offering degree programs, Embry-Riddle Asia will examine in-person course delivery in India and faculty research projects with Pratt & Whitney. This agreement is an extension of the university’s relationship with UTC, which includes educational support at other UTC facilities.

“Aerospace is a fast growing sector in India, both in terms of technology advancements and number of consumers,” said Palash Chowdhury, country manager for Pratt & Whitney in India.  “We are thrilled to team with Embry-Riddle to offer jet engine training to meet the growing need for skilled professionals in the country.”
