Eagle Aerospace Team Successfully Launches Rocket at the Eagle Eye launch site

Eagle Aerospace holds a rocket at the Eagle Eye launch site of the Tripoli Phoenix chapter of the Tripoli Rocketry Association on April 23 in Aguila, Ariz.

Eagle Aerospace is preparing for the Intercollegiate Rocketry and Engineering Competition in late June in Green River, Utah. There, the team will face tough competition from more than 50 other teams from around the world, including U.S. Ivy-League Schools and Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach Campus. The launch was a trial run of the largest 3D printed part ever flown on a rocket and took place in Aguila, Ariz., at the Eagle Eye launch site of the Tripoli Phoenix chapter of the Tripoli Rocketry Association on April 23. 

The launch was flawless, and the team's rocket reached a computer-confirmed 7,396 feet in altitude and a top speed over 437 mph.

Last year, Eagle Aerospace placed sixth in the world.

"This year, our team has our eyes on cracking the podium for the first time in school history," said Bryce Chanes, Eagle Aerospace president.


The team also wanted to recognize Dr. Michael Fabian, faculty mentor; the Undergraduate Research Institute for its financial support; Dr. Ron Madler, of the College of Engineering; the Student Government Association for its promotional support; Michael Brady and John Jerome, for safety support; and the support of the vendors, organizations and volunteers.
